Are you “called” to be a Counselor?
Welcome to Arise Academy!
What’s the difference between Coaching and Counseling?
Counseling: is a therapeutic process aimed at healing the heart and soul (mind, will, and emotions) by integrating God’s word with proven therapeutic practices. It involves the pastoral counselor guiding the client in spiritually understanding how to heal and grow in their relationship with God, themselves, and others. Counseling is highly confidential, protected under the First Amendment as pastoral care, with state-specific reporting mandates disclosed to clients at the beginning of the counseling relationship.
Coaching: "A coach is someone trained and dedicated to guiding others toward greater competence, commitment, and confidence." – Frederic Hudson. Coaching is client-driven, focused on areas where individuals recognize obstacles in their goal-setting and achievement. It is aimed at helping the client overcome blocks and grow in specific areas of their life.
Arise Academy offers online courses paired with the support of a clinical supervisor to help guide you toward accreditation as a Pastoral Christian Counselor. You have the opportunity to earn a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree. These degrees are awarded by affiliated universities that recognize and accept our courses and programs through established partnerships.
How does it work?
All programs are delivered through distance learning and are centered on a Biblical counseling approach known as Creation Therapy. This method incorporates the Arno Profile System (APS), the most comprehensive Christian temperament analysis available. The APS gives counselors immediate insight into a client’s God-given strengths, weaknesses, and core needs. Creation Therapy then offers a clear, step-by-step framework for counseling. Through this training, you’ll gain practical and spiritual tools to guide your clients toward healing, deeper intimacy with God and others, and a more fruitful walk with Christ.
Who is the program for?
If you feel called by God to counsel others from a biblical perspective but lack formal training, this program is designed for you. If you're a pastor seeking deeper, more effective counseling tools than what you received in college, this is for you. And if you often find yourself walking alongside couples in their marriage journey but feel unequipped to guide them through relationship challenges—this program will give you the tools you need.
